The Department of Electrical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering & Technology of
Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi is one of the premier electrical engineering education
and research departments of the Country and is also one of the SAP departments of
UGC. Since its inception in 1985 along with the inception of Faculty of Engineering &
Technology of Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, it has grown leaps and bounds and
continuously striving for excellence.
The faculty members at Department of Electrical Engineering lead by examples and are highly motivated to achieve excellence in research and development and publish their research in internationally peer reviewed journals, patenting their research findings, and bringing generous research grants from Govt. research funding agencies like AICTE, MHRD, MNRE, UGC, DRDO, DST, DOE etc. to upgrade the research facilities at the department and to provide innovative solutions to engineering problems. Many faculty members have received prestigious national and international awards for their contributions. As per the SCOPUS data, the h index of the department is 37, total no of citations is 7299 till date.

Power electronics is one of the most emerging and important area of electrical engineering. The focused research is needed in the area of power electronics and its applications. Controlling techniques i.e. Intelligent and conventional control techniques are other important research area which has application in power electronics and in other areas of electrical engineering. Measurement and monitoring are the key concept using IoT, Computer based networks for automation of Power electronics related applications and in other areas of electrical engineering.
